The earth was proved in the earliest known writings that have been cited by others ( the writings did not "survive") to be a sphere by the Greek Eratosthenes of Cyrene (both Greek) around 240 BCE, during his tenure as chief librarian of Alexandria. He set out to measure it using observation, geometry, and a remarkably simple experiment. His conclusion—that Earth is round and enormous—became one of the earliest quantitative proofs in scientific history.

The method relied on an observation: At noon on the summer solstice in Syene (modern Aswan), the Sun shone straight down a deep well, illuminating the bottom with no shadow. But at the same moment in Alexandria, a vertical stick cast a measurable shadow. Eratosthenes measured the shadow’s angle—about 7.2 degrees, or one‑fiftieth of a full circle. Knowing the distance between the two cities, he reasoned that if 7.2° corresponded to that distance, then 360° must correspond to fifty times more. Multiplying the known distance by fifty gave him a circumference astonishingly close to the real value. (500 miles times 50 is 25,000 miles; The earth is 24,860 miles in meridional circumference (which is north pole to north pole in a straight line to the south and back around)

SECOND TEST: the east west visual observation

IF YOU OBTAIN A PAIR OF BINOCULARS OR A TELESCOPE THAT CAN SEE BEYOND 15 MILES, THE EARTHS EAST TO WEST, WEST TO EAST CURVATURE CAN BE CONSISTENTLY OBSERVED BY FINDING A POINT OF EAST TO WEST OBSERVATION OF A HEIGHT OF A TEN STORY BUILDING WITH AN UNOBSTRUCTED VEIW TO THE TOP OF ANOTHER STRUCTURE OF HEIGHT TEN STORYS HEIGHT

The key is that the Earth’s surface drops away as you look farther out. A good rule of thumb is that the surface falls about 8 inches for every mile times mile of distance. Eight inches is two‑thirds of a foot. At 14 miles, the surface at the distant building has dropped a little over 130 feet below a straight line from your eyes. Since you are about 100 feet up, roughly 30 feet of the bottom of that ten‑story building is hidden behind the curve. At 15 miles, the surface has dropped a little over 150 feet, so about 50 feet of the lower part is hidden.

Through binoculars or a telescope, you will see only the upper part of the distant ten‑story structure, even though your optics are strong enough to resolve much smaller details. The missing 30 to 50 feet at the bottom is not too small to see; it is physically blocked by the curved surface between you and the building. As you move closer, such as helicopter or plane travel those lower floors “rise” into view, exactly as expected on a curved Earth.

Third test: the mechanical clock (a digital clock would be possible, but if it auto updates while your sleeping you would miss the change)

If you carry a mechanical clock that keeps absolute time (never reset), then:

• As you travel east, the Sun will appear to rise earlier the more time zones you travel thru

• As you travel west, the Sun will appear to rise later.

the tests combined:

give two measurements of distance and time and travel with a third constant object to measure perceptions from.

(The only way for the Earth to be flat would be a scenario where conciousness is distorted into an alteration of the laws of math and observations by the observing entity fabricated... ENTIRELY POSSIBLE).. The test also works North to South but the effect varies based on location.. Also the east west test is more dramatic the closer to the poles you are.

THE USA IS A TOTALITARIANISM, IT IS NOT A HEALTHY DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC, BUT A CORRUPTED MASS OF OPORTUNISM THAT THRIVES ON DIVISION THAT TRANSFERS BENIFITS.

The opportunism purports as genuine intentions asserting they are unattained goals and relies on fractional oddities and marginalization by its parts to enrich those that submit to its tyranny (by need, desire or ignorance), but there is a small likelihood it and its people in part are correctable in their flaws. The USA being a totalitarianism (and not a healthy democratic republic form top to bottom without exception) can be seen in the opportunism and other behaviors and character trait exertions of the government and people and their deviation from the actions government entities and electoral entities would exhibit in a true democratic republican government that is uncorrupted and unhindered by that corruption. This is not to say that a totalitarianism is a bad form of governance, The government form that produces the result of peace, comfort and prosperity for the intended group... the government's goal and its likelihood of success determines if it is a good government by the perspective of the viewer and from my opinion the USA is a wretched monstrosity of evil and perversion of honesty that purports to have a goal of liberty and justice for all...

Which would mean an equality of ability to protect ones rights and assert ones rights regardless of socioeconomic existence.

But its complete fucking bullshit, in a fluctuating degree for a fluctuating perspective (the groups or individuals with protections and rights).

This is not to say that the USA does not have comforts (it does but the news is dishonest or ignorantly misrepresentative of the USA's position on equality, protection and rights and will be disgust later:)

ALL OF THIS IS TO SAY THAT WITH AN ABILITY TO REASON AND CORECT INFORMATION A PERSON BY OBSERVATION CAN MEASURE ANYTHING, THE EARTH, THE STATE OF A COMMUNITY ITS GOVERNMENT AND THE DISEMENATION OF INFORMATION.. THE ONLY LIMITS ARE ONES TOOLS AND THE ABILITY TO USE SIMPLER OR LESS EXPENSIVE TOOLS A MEASURE OF THE PERSONS ABILITY TO USE INFORMATION AND REASONING.

THE MAJOR NEWS OF THE USA IS A TOOL FOR MEASURING THE PEOPLES REASONING AND CONCLUSIONING.

This is by far the simplest observation of all.

In every college of that teaches Journalism, with only few exception, Research methods is taught. What is a Research method, its the proper (arguable) practices for proving information as true, so that a respectable journalist can prove and show the information they are presenting is trustable.

Second

They all learn Ethics.

Accuracy and Verification — verifying facts, checking sources, correcting errors.

• Accountability — taking responsibility for accuracy and transparency.

• Independence — avoiding conflicts of interest.

• Fairness and Impartiality — presenting all sides without distortion.

Where these principles of ethics and others are void, a journalist is not a journalist. They are a Character with an opinion who is following a writers script in the pursuit of profit and possibly the goal professed. A review of many Major News stations and agencys shows that some of them
